WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Today is World Mental Health Day which aims to raise awareness of mental health and drive positive change.

It is also an opportunity to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to get help if you are struggling.

Think of your team-mates who attend weekly sessions, maybe that player you haven’t seen for a while - maybe today is the best time to check in with them and let them know someone is thinking about them!

Walking Football Scotland's partner SAMH offers an online learning course that helps understand mental health issues and make us more prepared to support others:samh.org.uk/about-mental-health/being-there-for-someone/conversations-in-the-community-elearning?fbclid=IwAR03yHb724JP9G2_aWVFhGtoQ1buyc_LaK08MVGs7x8PP5SBgcptAX3qY7s

SCOTTISH WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SPORT WEEK

This week we support the Active Scotland, ‘Scottish Women & Girls In Sport Week’ as we celebrate women walking footballers across the country and are encouraged to see the continual growth of game.

Through increasing visibility and role models, in particular our own patron Rose Reilly MBE who proved ‘#SheCanSheWill’, overcoming adversity to play the game she loved, we hope this encourages more women to get involved.

We thank all those women players, regional reps, referee and volunteers at local clubs who continue to support the grassroots game and competitions and look forward to another year of more women’s walking football in Scotland.
